British Ring Convention, Eastbourne, September. This year's convention will feature no less than thirteen different lectures. Bob Hayden (British Ring PRO) updates: "Bob Yelland is responsible for a multi million dollar marketing budget for a large multi-national company. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He is also a keen amateur magician. In his lecture he will apply the marketing techniques and strategies used by successful companies to a one-person magic business. He’ll look at how a magician might go about getting more profitable bookings, increase their fees and attract the right customers for their services. This is a business lecture with no tricks which will challenge you to think seriously about your own business aspirations and potential. Some of the most interesting lectures at our convention have been such non trick ones covering a variety of subjects. This years lecture ‘Strategic Marketing for Magicians’ by Bob Yelland is the first of this subject to be given not only at a British Ring Convention but possibly any Magical Convention worldwide." Nottingham/Derby Dealer Night. Monday 7th June is the date for Mark Leveridge's next Dealer Night. The venue is the Holiday Inn, Junction 25 M1, and all magicians are invited to pre-register now to ensure their place on this entertaining and money-saving evening. Starting at 7pm and finishing at 10pm, the evening includes a dealer dem, a mini lecture featuring 3 previously unpublished routines, 10% off the MLM and Magicseen products, prizes, and a sociable and relaxed atmosphere. Simon White sent the following words following the last evening in Northampton: "Fantastic – the only word to describe Mark Leveridge’s lecture/dealer demo that I attended last night at the Northampton Magic Club. As well as being a great magician and entertainer, Mark certainly knows how to market and manage a dealer dem. Prior to the event everyone who had confirmed their attendance was sent a £10 voucher to spend on the night. Yes, £10 - just for turning up! There was a further 10% off anything purchased on the night too. The actual evening was a mixture of lecture and dealer demo. It was both structured and informal – a difficult balance which Mark successfully pulled off. Mark was more than happy to answer questions and demonstrate any of the effects that were for sale. How good was it? Well, I spent more last night than I did at Blackpool! (and more importantly, everything that I bought last night will get used!)."
