Number 528 - 7th August 2010
Richard
McDougall: Use
Your Imagination. Richard's thought stimulating 'Use Your
Imagination' lecture/workshop will be staged by International Magic on
Tuesday evening, 17th August: "Richard will be exploring the creativity in all of us and how
it can be applied to producing an original performance piece; whether
you are interested in stand up, close up or stage magic. Be prepared to
challenge yourself and the way you currently think about putting
together a magic routine. This is one of the most thought provoking and
inspirational lectures on performance and creativity that you will ever
see. There will be no 'tricks' taught as such in this lecture, this is
about creating your own unique magic as a performer. The evening will
include 1 hour of presentation with some video footage, then another
section of approx 40mins of workshop/Q & As."
Venue: 2nd floor at ‘Casa Italiana’, 136 Clerkenwell Road,
London, EC1R 5DL (Map)
which is almost opposite the International Magic Shop in Clerkenwell
Road, London.
Time: 7.30pm (finishes approx 9.45pm). £15.00, payable on the door (must
be pre-booked though). Contact Martin MacMillan as soon as possible if you are planning to attend;

Jun
Kim Hyun, the fabulous Korean manipulator who won 1st Prize at the
Blackpool Convention earlier this year, returns to the UK for the
International Magic Convention in London in November (26th-28th).
One of the very top scorers in the manipulation category at FISM in
Beijing last year, Jun is a member of the new breed of Asian
manipulators who combine amazing technique, break neck speed and
tremendous stage presence. It is only fitting that a brilliant
manipulator should attend the convention, launched 39 years ago by the
founder of International Magic, Ron MacMillan, a fellow FISM winner and
billiard ball specialist. Please be aware that the special hotel rates
on the website must be booked by the end of August to qualify. With many
more star names to be announced this promises to be a great weekend. Further details:

Owen Lean graduated from Trinity College Dublin with the world's first

new feel-good stand up comedy magic show that he will be debuting in
London on August 4-7th. The show entitled Failure: Admit It, Accept
It, Embrace It. Promises to be as hilarious as it is thought
provoking dealing with subjects such as romance, politics, employment
and questioning whether the criteria society uses to define people as
'successes' and 'failures' are actually completely the wrong way around.
