The
Order of the Magi (Manchester). Geoffrey Newton PRO reports: The Order of
the Magi had the highest number of members and guests on
record at their Christmas party earlier this week. 106 revellers attended the
Irish World Heritage Centre to enjoy an evening of games, quizzes, spot prizes,
hot pot supper and entertainment which featured vocalist Karl Seth and award
winning magician Danny Jewell. All this was free for members and only £6 for
guests.
The IBM British Ring was well represented and the photo shows (l to r) a
knotty problem demonstrated by new Council member Rick Tynan to Treasurer
Keith Cooper and Pam, June Smith and President (and Magi Life Member) John ‘Sly’
Smith. Many Magi members attending are also Ringers including Adrian Sullivan,
David Yorke, Carol Tynan (thanks for the photo) Paul Warren, Peter Moran, Trevor
Dawson, Jack Griggs – a former Budget editor, Dave Magee, Geoff Radford and Alan
Russell. It was like a mini convention as well as a party.
The Magi hopes to relocate to their new premises early in 2013 and you will hear
about it first on MagicWeek.
