The
Session, Cheltenham January 2014: "This year's guest of honour has been
announced as none other than Guy Hollingworth. Simply one of the most stylish,
original, and technically-gifted magicians of all time, we are honoured to have
the distinguished Mr. Hollingworth as our Guest of Honour. He will present some
of the effects he is best known for, as well as some things he has rarely shared
with magicians. He joins Bebel, John Guastaferro, Joe Barry, Morgan & West, Jon

The
very latest from the International Magic Convention and Festival organisers:
"We are delighted to announce that Jon Armstrong has been added to the already
stellar line up of Dani DaOrtiz, Christian Engblom, Miguel Gea, Peter Woerde,
Terry Ward, Florian Severin, Mahdi Gilbert and Brendan Rodrigues for the Bar
Magic Event of the International Magic Convention in London. Tickets for this
stand alone event also include entry to a performance of one man show by John
Carney at the Bridewell Theatre on the evening of Saturday 16th November
(tickets:
www.internationalmagic.com). Jon Armstrong has been recognised as one of the
outstanding card talents of his generation and nowhere is his skill more obvious
than in a bar setting. A great chance to see this master performer close up and
at his best. The evening shows at the Bridewell Theatre on Monday 11th -
Wednesday 13th include full one-show sets from The Wizards of Odd and Young and
Strange and also shorter guest spots from Patrik Kuffs, Terry Ward, Alan Hudson,
Steve Best, Pete Turner and other guest performers. As for the day-time
sessions, there is a sliding scale of prices so that the more events you book
for the cheaper they work out. Also, a couple of close up competitors have had
to withdraw from the Close Up Competition on the morning of Saturday 16th - so
if you'd like a last minute chance to enter the contest and the possibility of
walking away with not only £1000 cash but also the title of "International Close
Up Magician of the Year 2013" do not hesitate to contact
georgia@internationalmagic.com
for a set of rules regarding the competition. It seems like a very open
competition this year with entrants from nine different countries all vying to
add this prestigious title to their CV - may the best performer win!

entertaining. I don’t want to ruin the show for others, by listing
everything that Jamie performed in the show, it would ruin the element
of surprise. I will however mention some of the stand out items for me,
which were..."

Luke Jermay Workshop
- Aberdeen. Just 5 places remain. "The
Trickery is proud to present a Luke Jermay Workshop. As well as
bringing his successful one man show, 6th Sense, to Aberdeen, Luke will
be holding a workshop on Saturday 2nd November. Despite being only 27
years old, Jermay has already made a profound and lasting impact on the
landscape of magic and mentalism. Having published critically acclaimed
books; 7 Deceptions, Building Blocks and 3510 as well as 38 other
limited availability titles, his published material has made its way
into the working performances of mentalists the world over. He has acted
as consultant for, and directed, many leading TV performers and
headlined with his one-man show ‘Mind Reader’ on the Las Vegas strip.
The day will be divided into two parts. Part one will focus on 'The
Alexander Approach - Making it Matter'. This part of the day will focus
on scripting, delivery and concepts that are showcased within his
performance. Here Luke will reveal the tricks, tips and techniques that
he uses in his own material to make it more emotionally affecting. Part
two will focus on 'Conjuring with Information' covering Luke’s obsession
with the classic “People Reading – Questions and Answers Routine”. If
you have seen either 'Mind Reader' in Las Vegas or 'Psychic Cabaret' in
the UK you will know the power of a Q & A routine. The fee for this
special workshop is £65 and can be reserved by emailing Iain McCarron
iain@thetrickery.co.uk.
Places are limited, sales are on a first come first served basis. Ticket

High
Jinx - Final week, Blackpool Pleasure Beach! Philip Partridge writes: "See
Michael and Tamsyn in their final week of their second year at the Horseshoe,
Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Yes they’re back with a new show in 2014. The intimate
venue shows off their talents brilliantly with superb sound and lighting. It’s a
fun-packed fast paced show. Michael is not just a magician but a great juggler
and one of my favourite new sequences involved a themed glow-in-the-dark
juggling sequence. It was great to see families being wowed with his new
illusions and comedy magic. Tamsyn even does quick change. High Jinx have been
very generous to the magic community throughout 2013 by offering their full
evening show at the discounted rate of £5 on display of a Magic Circle or IBM
membership card. Keep up your hard work High Jinx; you are superb ambassadors
for our magic art."
