Houdini
is being repeated on More4 next weekend. Got to be frank I only lasted
about 20 minutes when this two-part drama was first shown. It just
wasn't 'right'. Adrien Brody was miscast and it all went a bit too
'Hollywood' if I remember. I'll see how I do this time around. DT. "Two-part US drama that follows the epic tale
of Harry Houdini as he emerges as America's first bona fide,
world-renowned superstar. From humble beginnings at circus sideshows to
sold-out concert halls, Eastern European immigrant Erich Weiss rose to
become a household name - Houdini - across the globe. Academy
Award-winner Adrien Brody stars as The Great Harry Houdini as he finds
fame, engages in espionage, battles spiritualists and encounters the
greatest names of the era, from US presidents to Arthur Conan Doyle and
Rasputin. A thrilling ride through Harry's psyche, Houdini delves behind
the curtain in to his life through his stunts, his visions and his
mastery of illusion. Joining Brody is Kristen Connolly as Bess Houdini,
the love of Harry's life and his right-hand woman when it came to some
of his most amazing feats, and Evan Jones as Jim Collins, Harry's
assistant and confidant. Houdini is written by Nicholas Meyer and
directed by Uli Edel. Starring Adrien Brody, Kristen Connolly and Evan Jones.
Late Saturday night and Sunday night on More4. See

Daniel
Chard Presents '́Chardistry'. Steve Gore writes: Daniel is a professional
magician from Bristol. He has been a resident at the UK'́s premier magic bar
“Illusions Magic Bar” and performed two seasons at the “House of Illusion” in
Salou, Spain. When he ́s not rocking the bar, you'll find Daniel performing at
weddings, corporate events and at private parties.
His debut sell out release “Chardshark” (RSVP Magic) received great reviews and
helped spread word of Daniel ́s work. He released some of his pet sleights on a
project called “Violin” (Magical Sleight) then followed a series of downloads
with Ellusionist, one of the biggest online magic stores. Maturing as a creator
and a performer, his latest project “Chardistry” is quickly gaining recognition
among his peers as a respected creator. He has also contributed items to “Magic
Magazine”. What is the lecture about? Two hours of strong and visual card magic
taken from Daniel's working repertoire. Material designed to be performed in the
real world, ranging in difficulty from beginner to advanced. "Daniel Chard is
a terrific magical thinker and creator. I love his card work." Joshua Jay.
Contact Daniel directly to discuss fees and availability for your club. He is
looking to book dates from December 2015 to March 2016. His email address is

Magician wanted for children’s fun day fundraising event in Billingshurst,
West Sussex. Jess Blanch writes: I'm looking for a magician to help raise
funds for a trip I am taking to Ghana next year to improve the education of
Ghanaian children. As a trainee teacher I am passionate about the education of
all children and I believe all children should be entitled to a good education.
I will be teaching, providing resources and improving the school’s environment.
Last year I went to Kenya; the trip meant that the overcrowded basic classroom
could have windows to air the dramatic heat. My children’s fun day fundraising
event will take place on the 16th August 2015 in Billingshurst, West Sussex. The
event is from 11-4. I would like a magician for any duration to perform to the
children at the event on a stage. Please email me on
jess.blanch@outlook.com if you can
contribute to this charitable cause. Thank you.

Derek
W. Hilton peacefully passed away at home on 22 June 2015. Inspired by Dante,
he was known for his own version of the Sim Sala Bim show which kept him busy in
the United States for 15 years before he brought the show back to his UK
homeland in 1986. He passionately trained many young magicians in the theatre of
magic and firmly believed that magic should be fun. Derek was particularly
famous for his unique version of the 6-card repeat. The funeral will be held at
the Luton Crematorium on Friday 17th July at 4pm followed by a reception at the
Oxen Road Club (High Town Club) LU2 0DZ. Denham Holmes.
