Magic on the Fringe. Mel Harvey writes: Just a short overview of magic at The Edinburgh Fringe that I witnessed this week. It was my first time at the Fringe and a birthday treat and what a buzz it was. All the leafleteers out on the streets all vying for business; even most street entertainers were including magic and escapology. It's impossible in six days to see all 4000 plus shows, but I managed to see a few. They ranged from student dramas to the pros strutting their stuff, I even managed to bump into Rodney Bewes of the Likely Lads and had a meal with the staff of Fawlty Towers. Michael Jordan presented a family show of magic, juggling and illusion to a packed family crowd. Paul Dubeck surprised many with an edgy show of comedy and magic, which he topped with his hand shadows. Ed Hilsum, back from his tour, was granting magic wishes with some help from James Freedman. Los Angeles magician Magiko thrilled a parlour crowd with his laid-back magic and mind reading which held the audience spellbound. To round off my birthday treat I was taken to Breakfast at Piffany's with our own John van der Put as Piff the Magic Dragon, who, with his team, created a very special magical game show. The showgirl in the photo had come over with John from Las Vegas specially for the Fringe!" 22.8.15
