Mel
Mellers: The Travelling Trickster is reviewed by Jay Fortune this
week. "Reading it with my performer's hat on, it was the ‘bits of
business’ that were, in my opinion, really worth their weight in gold.
And these are littered throughout the book. Many may pass them by, but
to the savvy and experienced performer you’ll read a sentence for a gag
or bit of business that might give birth to a whole routine inspired by
Mel’s thinking..." To read Jay's full review,

Luke
Murray: Mystifier. From the organisers:
Be prepared for a theatrical roller-coaster ride as master magician Luke Murray
brings his new one-man show to London. The Award-Winning Mentalist will provoke,
astound, baffle and amaze!
Impossible predictions, devious divination and his extremely risky version of
Russian Roulette are just a selection of what you can expect this psychologist
illusionist to display in this new one-hour show.
Once a stand-up comedian and compere, this show will also leave you in hysterics
as Luke Murray combines his unique brand of comedy with his mentalism. "Luke Murray infuses some much-needed levity
and humour into the 'heady' art of
mentalism" (Huffington Post blogger).

Oliver
Tabor lectures at The Surrey Society of Magicians on Thursday 28th April: Oliver has been a full time magician for over 15 years, was the winner of
multiple awards at the 2013 IBM British Ring Convention and is the producer for
'West End Magic' at the Leicester Square Theatre, and the 'Magic at the Barn' shows
in Essex.
Oliver has lectured at The Magic Circle, the IBM British Ring Convention and for
the Blackpool Magicians' Club. His lecture mostly covers stage magic and looks
at how the techniques, psychology and rules used by stage
manipulators can easily be applied to all performance situations: from cabaret
to close-up and from parlour to children's shows.
He offers effects for close-up, comedy, stage and children's magic, and also
demonstrates how to produce a dove. Throughout the explanations he illustrates
how to make performances more powerful by applying the rules of stagecraft, how
to deconstruct a routine or act, whilst eliminating any unnecessary movements and
actions, and how to give your magic more of an impact in general. Lecture notes and products
will also be available. Entrance:
Members free, visiting magicians welcome for a £10 entrance fee. The
lecture takes place in East Horsley, Surrey at 8pm. For details
contact Adam Mosley info@surreymagic.org.uk. We are always looking for new
members so please check out our web site
www.surreymagic.org.uk or find Surrey
Magic on Facebook.
