Wallis's Wonders of Great Yarmouth destroyed by fire Friday morning. Mike Wallis (right) only opened his new magic shop in the large Indoor Market in Regent Road, Great Yarmouth last year (see MW 783 and 800) and it was an instant success. Mike said at the time: "In the first 6 months of opening I've been flabbergasted by the custom and support of local and visiting magicians, and because of stocking different and unusual lines as well as 'WW Exclusives', I am thrilled to be expanding into the neighbouring unit and having alterations to the Wonder Lair to accommodate even more stock!" The Why Factor - Magicians. Tricksters, conjurers, the world of magicians. Who are they and why do they do what they do? We began by asking ourselves why we enjoy magic shows and why we allow them to deceive us. But the psychology of the magicians themselves is as interesting as the psychology of the audience. So what is in the mind of a magician? Presented by Mike Williams and first broadcast on the BBC World Service. Click Here. 6.8.16

New from Mark Leveridge Magic. Mark writes: A couple of new things to tell you about this week. Firstly, the Mark Leveridge Magic homepage has been simplified a little to hopefully make it easier to get access to the sections that interest you. So, please do go and have a look. Secondly, this month I have released a selection of mp3 Audio File downloads. These are the soundtracks from a video presentation called Mark's Monthly Message, which members of E-Club Pro receive each month as part of their membership to the online club and information resource. In each of these Messages (of which there have been 70 to date) I spend a few minutes giving advice, opinion and information on different magical topics, and so far a very wide range of themes has been covered. In order to allow non-members to get access to a selected number of these Messages, I am now making a few of the soundtracks available as Audio Files, and the first batch of six have just been released. The topics are: Checking Up On Technique, Coping With Nerves, Dealing With Mistakes, Developing A Performing Personality, Magical Self Awareness and Making The Most Of Practice. Each Audio File runs for 10 minutes or less and so they make ideal bite size learning tools. The files are available separately or as a collection of all six for a very reasonable price. For more information and to order, please go to www.markleveridge.co.uk/audio.php. 6.8.16

Ben Earl Liverpool Workshop. Alan Singleton writes: A rare opportunity has come up and it is on a first-come, first-served basis; be quick as there are only 25 places available! I have managed to book Ben Earl for a workshop here in Liverpool! Many of you will know Ben from his appearance on Penn and Teller's Fool Us (which he did) and somehow I've managed to persuade him to hold a 7 hour workshop up here! I met Ben many years before P&T... I managed to get him to do a lecture for the Liverpool Magic Circle. I must confess at that time, I had never heard of Ben, just whispers of this 'underground magician' whose thinking and card skills were second to none. I have to say, the skill and thinking demonstrated by Ben was simply incredible! Over the years I have seen many of the top magicians, and I have never witnessed card skills which come close to his. I seriously urge you to get involved with anything Ben does, and this is a particularly rare opportunity (plus I've heard whispers that his new workshop is something amazing... the word 'revolutionary' has been mentioned several times!). 18th September. I am not going to expand here on what's on offer at the workshop, here is a link, which will explain in detail what the workshop is all about: benjaminearl.com/the-shift. 6.8.16
