SNAP!
Following its Fringe debut in 2016, The Contemporary Magical Performance
group, SNAP, consisting of seven of Korea’s finest magicians, returns to
the Assembly George Square Theatre from August 3rd to 28th at 3pm-4pm
daily (except August 14th, 21st). Last year the show received rave reviews,
not only from audience members, but from the media as well. Broadway
World said “The illusions are so flawless that I can only assume this is
actual magic. The entire audience was transfixed for what felt like an
all too quick performance as the time just flew by. Astonishing.” And
the Herald, The Skinny, The Scotsman, Broadway Baby, Mumble Circus and
Fringe Guru gave 4 and 5 star reviews to SNAP. What is more, SNAP was
selected as one of six best performances in the Edinburgh Fringe by
Broadway World and won Best Production award from Asian Arts Awards
which are given to a total of three teams for Asian performers every
year.
SNAP is a multi-faceted, ingenious show combining moments of classic
comedy theatre with a unique stage language, magic and illusion. The
cast of seven award-winning performers – huge stars in their own country
and masters of their craft – bring to life characters such as The
Alchemist, The Flower Man, The Dreamer, The Trickster and a host of
others, to stage a fabulous fantasy experience for Fringe audiences.

Steve
Dimmer 'Nuts & Bolts' lecture, South London Magic Society, June 6th.
Simon Rosselli writes: Steve Dimmer presents his Children's Nuts & Bolts lecture to South
London Magic Society on the 6th June 8-10pm. He explains many original
effects with props all magicians will have and also goes into the
practical side of being a children's entertainer. He explores how to
sell your services more effectively, promoting yourself at parties with
a view to getting more work, as well as how to make your shows more fun
with new bits of business and sub-routines. Also addressed is the
tricky issue of entertaining for the older child and tactics on the
thorny problem of how to keep the adults quiet! Interspersed with this
are original effects that he has devised for the hardest of audiences:
teenagers, which can be performed to audiences of any age. These tricks
have original methods.
Steve is an Associate Member of The Inner Magic Circle with Silver Star
and has won The Pip Ayres Memorial Trophy for Children's entertainment 8
years out of the past 10.

Marketing
Yourself - A Brand New E-Book From Mark Leveridge. Mark Leveridge
writes: Trying to sort out the best way to promote yourself and your
shows is far more complex than it used to be. None of us realised how
simple Yellow Pages used to make our lives until it was no longer
relevant! In this brand new 35 page advice E-Book, which is Vol. 4 in
the Professional Worker Series, Mark takes a close look at exactly what
the main online and offline opportunties are for you, and suggests how
best to go about using them. Although the subject is not particularly
straightforward, Mark offers clear advice to help you to cut through the
clutter and get to the essence of the subject. If you have ever felt a
little bewildered by modern day marketing, this instructive E-Book will
give you the help that you need. For more information go to

Nice
one Axel! On Sunday 28th May Axel Hecklau won the 1st prize at the
German Championships in Saarbrücken and writes: It was a tough
competition, since all acts where unique, very creative and innovative.
I think one can say "Parlor" was the category with the highest level on
average of the contest. The decision of the jury was very hard to
predict. So I was very, very lucky to get the Magica trophy in gold. I
performed my "spectators driver licence to impossible location" and my
Rubik's Cube routine. Now I have to work on the Korean version of this
act to perform at FISM in Busan next year! See Axel's latest at
