Ghost
Stories. Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson's Ghost Stories
premiered at the BFI London Film Festival in Leicester Square on
Thursday evening. MagicWeek readers will of course know Andy for his
brilliant work with Derren Brown, but Ghost Stories reveals a
whole new 'Andy Nyman'! The stage production, first seen in 2010, that
went on to play in the West End for two or three seasons, was a huge
critical success, so the thought of transferring it to the big screen
must have been viewed as a real gamble (if it ain't broke...) but one
that's
really paid off. Ghost Stories is a beautifully crafted piece of
cinema. Proper film making, proper storytelling, wonderful
characters... and scary too, with a whimsical undertone and a wholly
satisfying ending. I loved it. Do try and see Ghost Stories when
it comes out next year. DT.

in a lifetime chance to attend a paranormal evening and Victorian Séance
at the eerie Carnegie Hall. For the 1st time in 80 years Carnegie Hall
will hold a Séance in the original Victorian Library. A room which has
been left more or less untouched since the late 1930s and has had more
documented reports of violent poltergeist and unsettling ghost activity
than any other room in the entire complex. The evening will feature a
lights out tour of the creepy venue, a lecture on the paranormal with
experiments, a hands on experience with the infamous "Ouija" board and a
lights out, electricity off "Dark" poltergeist session.
The library room is not generally open to
public events due to reports of feeling uneasy, feeling watched, people
having hair pulled and violent poltergeist activity. The room is
generally locked off from public view. Hosted by Liam A Black. This is
not a family event and as a general guide is not advisable for those
under the age of 18, no pregnant women, no persons of a nervous
disposition and no persons with heart conditions should attend these

consideration of members there will be an initial allocation for

Mercat Bar, 28 West Maitland Street, Edinburgh EH12 5DX (Map). PayPal payment link:
www.paypal.me/EdinburghMagicCircle/11
At the age of seven Michael traveled to Spain on holiday with his
parents, and it was there that he witnessed close up magic for the very
first time; this was an event that would change the entire course of his
life. At the age of sixteen Michael released his first commercial effect
“Beyond ESP” which to date has sold in excess of fifteen thousand
copies. Having attracted the attention of several world class performers
including Max Maven, Richard Osterlind and Banachek he quickly
established himself amongst his peers. In 2016 Michael released his
first book 'A Piece of My Mind' which was crowned book of the year (as
voted by the members of the Magic Cafe). Michael is widely regarded as one of the most respected creators
of both magic and mentalism and with countless releases in the pipeline
his future looks very bright. Recently one of Michael's newest releases
'The Solution' was performed on live television on a prime time News
program in the United States by Stephen Brundage.
So there you have it, one of the best creative minds in magic and
mentalism IMHO is coming to lecture for us all. In addition to the
lecture Michael is happy to sit after the event and have a sherry or two
and session some ideas. A night not to be missed. Edinburgh Magic
Circle looks forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the night.
