The Cube. Jolyon Jenkins (Magitronics) writes: I'd like to tell you about a new utility effect I have produced which is now on the market, called The Cube. It's a die for magicians and mentalists. The idea is not new and has been around since the 1970s, but very unusually, the Cube is the same size as a normal gaming die, 16x16x16mm, and looks the same. It comes in two versions: one is made from reclaimed mahogany for a retro look; the other in plastic, in red or blue. It also has an option to be used as a "which hand" effect. As an electronics inventor I have previously produced a number of effects which have been mostly sold as ebooks through the Magic Nook site run by Professor Spellbinder. I have also undertaken one-off commissions to make custom effects. This is the first device I have brought to market and it has taken 5 years of R&D. The dice are made by hand, by me, at my Bristol workshop. To find out The Cube is all about visit www.magitronics.co.uk. 18.8.18

The Mark Leveridge August Podcast. Released on the 1st of each month, this 30 minute audio presentation is full of interesting and thought provoking topics and opinion from Mark Leveridge. Here are the subjects he covers in the August edition: Why on earth do so many of us get involved in magic in the first place? Mark suggests a whole load of reasons why we might get involved in the art. Duncan Trillo launches a new initiative in which he invites readers of MagicWeek to become MagicWeek Backers. The football World Cup is over, but maybe there are some lessons to be learned about how not to jump on a bandwagon when it comes to publicity. Mark finally releases the 4th volume of his popular card magic series of E-Books. There are many things to cope with as a table hopping magician, and none of them are anything to do with the magic itself. Download instructions are now all pervasive, a situation that has almost sneaked up on us all. You can opt to listen to the podcast online or to download the mp3 file for playback on any mp3 player, and it is available either from www.markleveridge.co.uk/podcast.php, or alternatively you can link to www.markleveridge.podbean.com from where you can also sign up as a follower and automatically receive each new edition as soon as it is ready. 18.8.18

Here you can find out how to offer educational magic to your clients - whether it’s adding the occasional routine or a whole new show.
