Phil
Smith Lecture, Derby Magic Circle, Wednesday 28th November. Paul
Sharp writes: 'Miscellaneous Miracles' lead creator Phill Smith teaches
his approach to fun, commercial mentalism, that's engaging, personal and
easy to do. The lecture covers exciting mind reading with accessible
simple methods that you and your audiences will love; baffling
predictions and amazing demonstrations of impossible mind control.
Everything is simple and doable in the real world. Audiences love the
creepy frisson of excitement that strong mind reading can create and
with the material Phill teaches you'll be able to bring this to your
next performance without having to invest in expensive electronic gizmos
or spending days learning complex methods that work 90% of the time.
With powerful hard hitting presentations and deceptive, well thought out
methods, this is mentalism that you'll use. A unique lecture! Past
members of Derby Magic Circle and visiting magicians are always welcome
at our meetings, but there is a small fee of £10 payable on the night.
Derby Magic Circle, Breadsall Memorial Hall, Brookside Road, Breadsall,
Derby DE21 5LR (Map).
Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

Colin
Peters, Surrey Society of Magicians Stage Competition winner! Adam
Mosley writes: On
Thursday, the 22nd of November the Surrey Society of Magicians held
their annual Stage Competition. There was a packed auditorium with a
mixture of magicians and laypeople watching the seven acts on stage. A great night was had by all with a
very high standard throughout. We would like to thank the audience
members, Geoff Pescud the compère, Michael Pearce for time keeping, the
two lay judges, and our magical judge Gary Fairplay for their hard task
in finding the top three acts. In third place was Theo Theodoris, second
was Tommy Knight and to complete his hatrick (pun intended) of stage
wins was Colin Peters (pictured) a well deserved win. The Bernard Weller
comedy award was won by Terry Lambert. Another fantastic competition
night.

Steve
Gore's 'Lemon Squeezy' lecture, The Watford Association of Magicians,
Tuesday 27th November. Steve Gore will present his brand new lecture
'Lemon Squeezy' for The Watford Association of Magicians on Tuesday 27th
November. His previous lecture received excellent reviews at the Magic
Castle, the IBM British Ring Convention, the South Tyneside
International Magic Festival, the British Magical Society and over
twenty magic societies. His new lecture includes lots of his original
effects, including 'The GPS Deck', 'The Amnesia Deck', 'The Casino Con'
and 'Visions from Vegas'. He also lectures on some other non released
effects which can be made up by yourself, so it's not a dealer dem, and
he even has a specific free magic item to give to every magician to take
home! It’s not all close-up though, there are effects for stage, stand
up, and mentalism too, so there really is something for everyone. All
his effects are also easy to master... easy peasy, lemon squeezy,
allowing you to focus on the presentation. Guests welcome! Contact
www.stevegore.co.uk for more
info.
