Steve Faulkner Lecture - Bexley Magic Society, Wednesday 2nd October. From the organisers: Star lecture at Bexley Magic Society 2nd October. Steve Faulkner, host of Real Magic Review, creator of the exhaustive and ever-expanding Card Magic Course and winner of awards (that are probably a bit too far in the past to mention)* brings his new lecture, ‘From the Wilderness Years’, to Bexley Magic Society. After a messy divorce, Steve’s love for magic died, becoming little more than a familiar way to pay the ever-increasing bills. But, after an even messier snowboarding accident, he received a lovely message from Richard McDougall reminding him of the joys of magic, and life. He picked up his cards and everything fell back into place. Vowing never to forget his love for magic again, and working with his inability to attend most conventions (due to those meddling kids), he launched his channel, relaunched his course and overcame five years of magic procrastination. With twenty-five year's performance experience on stage and street, and eight years as an executive coach, Steve’s lecture is not just tricks but also the tools to make sure you become the magician you want to be. *(Oh OK then. British Street Performing Champion, National Street Performing Champion, IBM British Close-up Magic Champion and 2nd in The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the Year). (Steve's Snowboarding Accident vlog can be enjoyed here YouTube). Visiting magicians welcome. Entrance fee £10.00 on the night. www.bexleymagic.org.uk/programme. 28.9.19

I will refund every registrant who had booked, and I thank them for their support, I am sorry it has come to this. I'm sorry for the registrants who have supported my event, and the dealers who will also be refunded. www.magiczoneenterprises.com. 1.10.19

Punch & Judy's Jamboree Sunday 6th October - venue change.  Performances - UV Puppets - Commedia Masks - Vent Figures - Mini Kinema - Flea Circus - Auction - Displays - Workshops - Stalls - Bar. From the organisers: Well, we certainly didn’t have "local river bursts banks and floods venue" on the risk assessment form! With a week to go, what to do? We considered holding a Punch & Judy Regatta instead (the stripey look and a sprinkling of blazers would have been rather natty) or perhaps putting in a load of sand and a few deckchairs and doing "Seaside in the City: the indoor version". But common sense prevailed and the Jamboree team has managed to find an alternative venue at very short notice. Phew. So it’s the same event but at a new venue. Nothing else changes. The Jamboree will now be held at The Cadbury Club, Bournville, Birmingham B30 2HP (Map). Sunday 6th October. Doors open at 12 noon. Free entry. 28.9.19

Shaun McCree Lecture - Bolton Magic Club. Paul Goodman writes: Bolton Magic Club Presents Shaun McCree's Inside Out lecture. The first half of the lecture is the complete set Shaun did for the Blackpool Bear Pit show in 2018. It's the backbone of one of Shaun's regular working sets with a formal closer that Shaun uses for small gigs, with medium sleight level and nothing more difficult than a Mercury Card Fold. In the second half of the lecture Shaun discusses his tricks which were inspired by recent problems with his hands. Shaun wrote up some routines that have little or no sleight of hand at all, but fit the same rules as his other working material: impromptu, using a regular deck, 'in the hands' as far as possible, and designed to work for lay people in a commercial environment. Not to be missed. Doors open at 8.30pm on Wednesday 2nd October. Bolton Magic Club, The Doffcocker Inn, 780 Chorley Old Road, Bolton BL1 5QD (Map). www.boltonmagicclub.uk. Visiting magicians from other societies are most welcome. There will be an entrance fee £10.00 for non members. 28.9.19

Steve Wood lectures for The Surrey Society of Magicians on Thursday, October 3rd. Adam Mosley writes: Steve has been creating and performing magic and mentalism for 30 years. He has worked with some of the most prominent mentalists in the UK as well as others from around the world. His two main releases, Lost for Words and Counter Intelligence, have received 5 star reviews and been highly praised by mentalists around the world. With each new project, he blends classic and new techniques to create original, hard hitting mentalism routines. He has worked with other mentalists on numerous books (writing, proofreading, editing and creating original techniques) and is well known amongst the mentalism world for Isabella’s Star 3, which he wrote with Peter Turner. Now, for the first time, Steve is sharing some of his most treasured routines and principles. Included will be ACAAN, a super clean strolling routine that builds on techniques explored in Lost for Words, the NOAH Principle and how it can be used with multiple spectators, an impossible looking stage divination effect and a whole lot more! This is a rare opportunity to see Steve share his thinking and approach to creating multi-layered, devastating performance pieces. Members are free and visiting magicians are welcome for a £10 entrance fee. The lecture takes place in East Horsley, Surrey at 8pm. For full details please contact Adam Mosley: info@surreymagic.org.uk. 28.9.19
