Opportunity
for Young Magicians! From the organisers: Would you like to get some
expert mentoring to work on an act that will be part of the Edinburgh
Magic Festival this Christmas? Following the success of last year, we’re
delighted to bring back the Future Magicians programme at MagicFest - a
guided mentorship programme - to assist and encourage young magicians
who want to build positive rehearsal habits and produce high quality
work. It's free for young magicians to take part and you'll work with
professionals to create an act ready for a live theatre performance at
the end of December 2023!
This opportunity is limited to 5 young magicians (aged 12-18) who
already have some magic experience and want to progressively build an
act toward a deadline performance at the Magic Festival. Applications
close 31st October 2023, so be quick! You'll need to be available on 3rd
December (rehearsal and sharing) and 29th and 30th December (final
performances) in Edinburgh. Coordinated and created by Kevin Quantum
(MagicFest organiser), many local and international magicians gave their
time to assist. Here’s a BBC new slot demonstrating how the young
magicians got on last year:

Adam
Dadswell Lecture: Mentalism Applied - Liverpool Mahatma Magic Circle,
12th October. Matthew Gill writes: The next lecture at Liverpool
Mahatma Magic Circle will be Magician and Mentalist Adam Dadswell with
his brand new lecture - Mentalism Applied. Adam has been performing
magic for the last 16 years, initially as a close-up card magician
before venturing into the world of mental magic and mentalism. Over the
last few years, Adam has begun to share his work with the magic
community, notably his projects with The 1914 and Mindhaus were
particularly well received.
During Mentalism Applied, Adam will share a handful of workable,
practical mentalism effects that come straight from his working
repertoire (don't worry, it's not just playing cards!). Although Adam is
well known for performing in close-up environments, in this lecture he
will share real world lessons and thoughts on making mentalism play
bigger. Rumour has it, that he will also share a parlour / stage routine
he's been keeping under wraps for a while now. Thursday October 12th at
8pm. Entry: Free to members and £12 for visiting magicians. Venue: St
Stephen's Church Hall, St Stephen's Road, Hightown, Liverpool L38 0BL
