(Karl Fulves Convention) will be held this year on Saturday 18th July from 1pm

The KFC is a highly informal afternoon set up to honour the most important
close-up magician of the 20th century. Attendance is free but you are required
to show at least one trick by Fulves from any of his publications. This year

Pro Select Release July '26. Ball Thru Glass. The magician
freely displays a sherry glass, a ball and a handkerchief. Dropping the
ball into the glass, he covers it with the cloth. He now claims that he
will remove the ball invisibly' through the base of the glass and place
it into his pocket. Reaching under the handkerchief he brings out his
hand, which apparently holds nothing (well, the ball is invisible!), and
places it in his pocket. Lifting the cloth off the glass, it is seen to
no longer contain the ball. The spectators suspect that the performer
has secretly dragged the ball out of the glass under the cloth, but this
is shaken out to show there is genuinely no ball hidden there and both
the magician's hands are empty. Reaching into his pocket with one of
those empty hands, the performer brings out the actual ball thus proving
that he really did magically remove it.
Easy to do, no gimmicks required, just one glass, a sponge ball and an

magicians is coming to lecture at a special additional meeting of
Northamptonshire Magicians' Club on Tuesday, 14th July.
Featuring original close-up and stage material, practical performance theory and
real-world solutions from a performer who has appeared on America's Got Talent,
Penn & Teller: Fool Us and competed at FISM, this promises to be one of the
highlights of the club's lecture programme.

Gallagher's 'No Cards Tricks Here... Just Pure Magic' Lecture - The
Order of the Magi, Manchester, 28th July. Jonathan Royle writes: We
are pleased to welcome Kevin Gallagher to The Order of the Magi in
Manchester on Tuesday 28th July for a lecture focused on strong,
practical sleight of hand magic using everyday objects. Kevin came
to magic later than many, developing a serious interest at the age of
32. What began as curiosity quickly became a passion, eventually leading
him to leave his career as a Systems Engineer and pursue magic
professionally. Since then, he has built a successful career performing
across the UK and internationally, including appearances throughout
Europe, the USA, and the Far East.
A highly respected and multi award winning magician, Kevin's
achievements include success in both British and international
competitions, as well as participation at the FISM World Championships.
His experience as both a performer and judge gives him a well rounded
perspective on what makes magic effective in real world settings.
This lecture focuses on sleight of hand with a variety of ordinary
objects such as coins, balls, dice, rings, chains, Rubik's cubes, and
more. The emphasis is on practical material that can be performed in a
range of environments, with clear thinking behind both method and
presentation. As the title suggests, the session avoids card magic,
offering a refreshing look at other areas of close up performance,
although Kevin's expertise in cards may make a brief appearance if

Ulster Society of Magicians AGM. James Hobart writes: At the AGM on
Monday 6th July Alan Curran (pictured right) took over as Chairman of
The Ulster Society of Magicians. He joins Paula McIntyre (Vice
Chairman), James Hobart (Secretary), Paula McIntyre (Treasurer), Lucie
Wilson (Membership Secretary), Harry Gilliland, Alan Kennedy and
newcomers Geoff Stewart and Darren McAllister on committee.
David McAuley continues as Auditor with David Lillie as Welfare Officer
and Allan McAvoy as Webmaster. Paul Gomac in office already as Vice
President and Fay Presto as President continue for a further season.
