Geoffrey
Durham's Little Miracles, his all-new one man show, goes on tour in
January starting with six nights of previews at the Wimbledon Studio
Theatre (Box office 020 8540 0362). His last one man show was so popular
that he is taking to the road again with a show that will be bigger and
more mind-boggling than ever before, from stunning close-up magic to the
levitation of a member of the audience! More dates will be added, but for
current dates see What's On. Geoffrey was
recently awarded The Maskelyne for services to British Magic, and is also
the Magic Director on the upcoming COOPER! Not Like That Like This
(see below).

The Ulster Society of Magicians is
proud to announce that Max Maven will be lecturing in Belfast for them on Sunday,
January 19th, 2003. This is the second Ted Oldham Memorial Lecture
and will be Max's only lecture in Ireland. The cost is
£20.00. The exact venue and time are to be announced, but it will be early
enough for visitors to return home on the same day. For further details
contact the Secretary George Bleeks on 028 906 45795, email
george.bleeks@ntlworld.com
or visit the website
www.online-usm.com. If you've never been to Belfast, why not make a
weekend out of it? There are plenty of low-cost fares available,
particularly if you book in advance. The last time I saw Max work was at
the Opus IOM convention, where he was on top form. This one gets a
definite
"MagicWeek must see" recommendation.

COOPER!
Not Like That, Like This opens at the
Oxford Playhouse on Monday 17th March. "One of the nation's most
beloved natural clowns is brought vividly to life in this remarkable
celebration of the great Tommy Cooper. All the familiar trademarks are
here - the fez, the laugh, the 'hats' routine, the bottle and the glass -
just like that." The show provides a behind the
scenes insight into a night in the working life of the manic magician.
We meet the perfectionist and worrier whose energy and anger, and doubts and
anxieties, were the driving force of the outwardly genial giant who died
the most public of deaths on live television before an audience of
millions in 1984. Since that day his popularity has never waned. Written
by John Fisher, Directed by Simon Callow, Magic Director Geoffrey Durham,
Choreography Lionel Blair, Starring Jerome Flynn. The show will also
play at Malvern and Plymouth before opening in the West End later in the
year.

with Richard McDougall, and managed to persuade Martin MacMillan to book
him to lecture and perform at the convention. Excellent stuff. Shoot's
magic was the undisputed "find" at this year's convention, and his lecture will
be released next year on video by

Tony
Russell AIMC was awarded Honourary Life Membership to The
Magicians Of Basingstoke, for his lifelong services to magic and the
society. Fay Presto presented the award which left Tony speechless, for
once! Fay performed amazing close-up magic in the bar, and the evening was
rounded off with a fantastic cabaret performance from Mike O'Brien. Tony
