Congratulations
to Jayne Corrigan, winner of the Bristol Society of Magic's
Stage Competition and 'Parker Cup for Comedy' at
The Bristol
Society of Magic's recent Club Competition. Jayne says "It was such
a fun night and I am really delighted to have won both these awards",
she continues "I actually lost my voice the day before the competition
(which probably made everyone else delighted too!), so I nearly pulled
out, but as they say 'the show must go on!' There was a packed audience
of both lay people and magicians, with both lay and magic judges and I
had lots of great feedback on the night. I was even told that not only
did my routine catch the lay people, but it also caught many of the
magicians as well, which is always great to hear!" Take a look at

David
Tomkins has joined the line up for the IBM British Ring Convention
in September both as a performer on the children’s show and as a
lecturer on magic for youngsters. His name will be familiar to many of
you especially those who read The Magic Circular with his regular
contributions entitled 'Cheeky Dog Chicanery'. He has been an
entertainer since leaving school at 16 although his first public
appearance was at aged 8 as a ventriloquist at Butlin’s in front of an
audience of 2,000. He has been a member of the British Ring for many
years, received his MIMC about 10 years ago and now sits on The Magic
Circle board of examiners. David is a very creative performer who, over
the years has invented and made many of his own original tricks and
routines. The lecture therefore should be of great interest to those
conventioneers specialising in this side of the magic business. The
