Fresh from his triumphant Conjuring Up Comedy, Ian presents his new one
man show Funny Tricks: "Ian, a previous recipient of the
prestigious Magic Circle Comedy Award, explains and illustrates some of
the techniques he uses to mystify his audience. Is the hand really
quicker than the eye, is it all done with mirrors or does everything
disappear up the sleeve?
With a baffling array of new tricks, never seen before, this is a magical
treat for everybody to savour and enjoy. Whether you have previously
laughed and been astounded, or if you are a newcomer to Ian's unique
humour, it's a show most definitely not to be missed." "Simply mind-boggling."

An
Evening with Neil Kelso: Classical Magic and Comedy Music. Back
fresh from his second year as a sell-out success at the Edinburgh
Fringe, Neil Kelso and his jazz band will be performing at the
world-famous Concorde Club on Monday 24th September. With comedy, magic,
and live jazz, Neil Kelso will guide you through his whimsical world of
imagination. "Neil Kelso displayed considerable skill and performed
several beautiful tricks but his mastery was in leading the audience
deeper into the magic and the mystery until we were fully immersed and
grinning ear to ear. He has an incredible stage presence, something like
a cross between a bumbling Disney narrator and a Tim Burton character,
giggling and shrugging and slurring throughout." BroadwayBaby.com Review

Drawn
In by Oliver Meech is reviewed by Oliver Tabor this week: "'Drawn
In' is his first released effect, it is essentially another book but is
to be used alongside the invisible deck as an alternative presentation.
The concept of the routine is a spectator reads the story out aloud and
decides at the end of every page where the story proceeds by means of a
multiple choice at the end of each passage, this process is inspired
from the Choose Your Own Adventure Books popular with children..." To

Kids
Show Selection is yet another book by author Ian Adair for
the children's entertainer; in fact it's his ninth in succession! As the title suggests,
the contents are varied, with over 43 tried and tested original effects
and routines designed for the children's entertainer. The 111
illustrations and colour photographs provide additional information and
Ian assures readers that all items are practical and register well in
front of child audiences of all ages. Ian didn't set out to break any
records, but the amount of pages dealing with kids' show material within
those nine books almost amount to two thousand. Publication date is 29th
September and the book will be available exclusively through Practical
Magic

Brian Glover. Brian Glover, from Prestwich, Manchester in
England, passed away on Saturday 15th September after an illness that
struck in January this year. Brian, an amateur magician in the purest
sense of the word was an expert card magician with an encyclopedic
knowledge of the subject. Many of his contributions were published in
various magazines, especially Abra. He always had something to show and
you had only to ask him about an obscure move. Not only would he know
it, but also its history and multiple variations. Brian read card magic
books avidly and could remember with surprising detail all the moves and
tricks. In addition he had a wonderful sense of humour and a devilish
deadpan delivery comedians would give their eye teeth for. Brian and the
late Kevin Fox regularly attended conventions together including FFFF
where they made many friends. Brian's funeral will be held at Blakely
Crematorium, Manchester at 11.30am on Thursday 27th September and
afterwards at the Longfield Suite, Prestwich. If you will be attending
the funeral please let his family know at
chubbyandbilly@aol.com.
Likewise if you have a story, anecdote or a few words to say about
Brian, his family are assembling a compilation and would appreciate
hearing from you at the same email address. Quentin Reynolds.
