Zero to Ninety. New, from Michael Murray's MindFX: "The Heart of the System: Many years of research have shown that there is no single system that will guarantee a 100% hit rate from each and every sitter, each and every time. In this regard my system is no different, however my system does offer several advantages over many of the commercial systems which are available today. Firstly my system requires zero memory work which allows you to devote your full attention to the sitter. The 'Oracle' that you will be using allows you to deliver convincing readings within minutes of learning the system. Your readings will be different for each and every person you meet, yet should you meet that same person again you will be able to give them a very similar reading a second time round. The delivery of your readings will come across as one of knowing rather than thinking... E-book, introductory price £14.99 (available now, allow 24 hours). Orders for the physical booklet will be posted upon printing (limited to 150 copies). Please note that this item will also feature in my next book due for release December 2015." The March Mark Leveridge Podcast. Time to put your feet up and join Mark for his latest ruminations on the magic world, and this month the topics of conversation include: a discussion on how you would define what a magic show these days actually consists of, the fact that performing is often a strong catalyst for invention, and the way that the standard of top performers seems to have risen dramatically in recent years. Mark also wonders where all the dedicated book dealers have gone, suggests that taking a critical look at the condition of your props is a good idea and ponders whether the latest trend of supplying tricks only with online instructions is the thin edge of the wedge. Sleightly Amusing is a beginner’s guide to comedy writing aimed specifically at the magician. Written by Magic Circle member, James Ward, the book is divided into two sections. In the first, James outlines a number of gag-writing formulae which should quickly get your comedy writing up and running. The second section contains over 400 jokes, patter and bits of business written and compiled largely with the magician and/or magical compere in mind. Sleightly Amusing concludes with a useful bibliography of comedy writing books to take your gags to a higher level if you feel suitably inspired. James is a published author, in both fiction and magical fields (having contributed to Abra, The Magician, Mystery, The Budget, The Linking Ring and two editions of Mind Blasters). As well as scripting gags for, among others, Freddie Starr, June Whitfield, Roy Hudd, Radio 2, Radio 4, the World Service, BBC1, ITV, S4C (Wales) and German television, James has performed stand-up comedy across Yorkshire and at the Edinburgh Fringe. Sleightly Amusing (approx. 80 pages) is available as a paperback priced £5.99 www.amazon.co.uk and only £4.79 at www.lulu.com. It’s also available as a Kindle download (at £3.99). 7.3.15
