Kevin
Quantum: Anti-Gravity wins 'Best Magic' award Adelaide Fringe.
Really pleased to announce that 'Kevin Quantum: Anti-Gravity' received
the overall award for Best Magic at Adelaide Fringe last weekend. For
those that are unfamiliar with the world of Fringe, Adelaide Fringe is
an arts festival second only in size to Edinburgh Fringe. The Best Magic
award may be the most prized accolade you can receive for Magic on the
festival circuit. To receive this halfway around the world from a
programme containing almost 30 magic shows makes it all the more
special. From Kevin: "I’m very proud of everyone who helped me to get
to this point. From the show’s premiere Gilded Balloon at the Edinburgh
Fringe last year, to the final night here in Adelaide. It’s been a
ball." Visit www.kevinquantum.com

participation - a thoroughly enjoyable experience." EdFringe Review.

Oliver
Graham's recent Family Entertainment lecture is reviewed by Steve Majes
this week "I’m
sure Ollie won’t mind me saying that the “F Word” stands for “Family”. Straight
off the bat I have to say that this was one of the best lectures I’ve seen on the
subject of family magical entertainment. Ollie was fun, informative and full of
routines that you could put straight into your show. Ollie did mention that most
of the routines still feature in his act and I’m not surprised as they play so
well..." To read the full review

Jay
Adkins: Mind Magician, Friday July 13th, Stourport. From the
promoters: Jay Adkins: Mind Magician is a live audience show combining
cutting edge mentalism and mind magic. Audience members will be involved
in the show from the very start and blown-away by the mind reading
demonstrations, leaving you asking "how is this possible? He can make
even the non-believers question themselves." Clever. Intriguing.
Humorous and Brilliant! These are words used to describe Jay Adkins as
he leaves his audience mesmerised, engaged and amused, with his
naturally charming and entertaining style of stage mentalism, close-up
magic and delightful deception. Combining psychological
mind-manipulation together with magic and comedy, Jay brings a fresh
vitality to the genre of mentalism. His inimitable style combined with
memory feats that stun and amaze, Jay uses psychology, showmanship,
hypnosis, suggestion and cold reading to captivate and engage his
audience. Friday 13th July at 7.30pm at The Civic Hall,
Stourport-on-Severn, Martins Way, Stourport DY13 8UJ (Map).

Andy
Robertson does the double! The Annual General Meeting of the United
Kingdom Escape Artists (UKEA) took place on Saturday March 17th in
Northampton with a strong turnout of both professional and amateur
escape artists. The meeting comprised a number of lectures and
presentations and also saw the 3rd annual “Mick Hanzlik” award
competition. This year, the award was won by Andy Robertson from
Scotland. Andy presented an escape from an authentic recreation of an
electric chair, which was both captivating and frightening to witness.
The Award is named after Houdini Historian and Master Locksmith Mick
Hanzlik.
Andy was presented with the award by Allan and Rebecca Taylor who won
the award in 2017. It was also a double celebration as Mr Robertson also
received the first “De-Val” award for his escape from Peterhead Prison
Museum on the 31st of October 2017, which not only recreated the cell
escape methodology made famous by UK Escapologist and Historian David
De-Val and Harry Houdini but was the first time that any such escapology
test escape had been made in Scotland. The De-Val award is awarded for
the best Escape / public demonstration of Escapology by an Escape Artist
/ performer in the twelve months between the AGM meetings. Photo: 2017
