The
June Mark Leveridge Podcast. Last month was a Podcast Gold edition of
the Mark Leveridge podcast, in which Mark offered a selection of his
favourite topics from the previous 12 months. Now it is back to normal
business in June with the following topics discussed. Mark reflects
on his recent US lecture tour which included some dodgy weather and a
traffic violation! Talking of lectures, he considers what magicians
expect to get from a lecture that they attend. Magical fame and fortune
may not always be all it is cracked up to be. The Mark Leveridge Magic
website is being re-designed and Mark gives some early teaser
information about what it might be like when it launches later in the
year. There are reflections on why it can be difficult sometimes to
entertain the people who have actually booked you. Mark suggests why
offering advice to an inexperienced magician may not be the best thing
to do. And finally, Mark poses the question of why magic seems to
attract such high levels of incompetence! To listen for free to the
complete 30 minute audio, either online or as a download to any mp3
player, go to
www.markleveridge.co.uk/podcast.php or
www.markleveridge.podbean.com from where you can also sign up to be a
follower and automatically receive each new edition when it is released

Ben
Cardall’s Lecture, Derby Magic Circle. Paul Sharp writes: On
Wednesday 27th June, Derby Magic Circle is hosting Ben Cardall’s lecture
at Breadsall Memorial Hall, Brookside Road, Breadsall, Derby DE21 5LR (Map)
7.30pm for an 8pm start. Ben’s lecture focuses on why he performs the
way he does, and what constitutes 'real'. It’s often a controversial
topic, but he will offer his thoughts on the benefits of developing a
skill within your mentalist act in particular (he has a caveat for
magicians too) and the importance of memory in the work of our
performance art and how this alone can be used to create some amazing
things. Ben teaches a simple system for reading people. No tricks,
nothing other than your observational and deductive qualities at work.
Visiting Magicians and past members are very welcome to come along, but
there is a small fee of £10 payable on the night. Please contact our
President Allan Humphries prior to attending on 01889 590 975 or email

Matt
Berry Interviews... Uri Geller. "Matt Berry presents a series of
interviews with the greats of the stage, screen and music world. This
week Matt Berry brings you his interview with Uri Geller, recorded at
Geller's home in 1974 just as the self-proclaimed psychic's star was on
the rise. Geller wasn't keen at first, but eventually agreed and was
very welcoming. He was becoming quite a global star back in the early
70s and there was much fascination, not to mention the odd sideways
glance, at the very mention of his name. Berry actually met him first on
the dance floor of Tramp's night club a year earlier but Geller said he
had no memory of it. Not wanting to let such a snub deter Berry, he
soldiered on and within this interview managed to get a real sense, of
the real Uri Geller." Written, performed and edited by Matt Berry.
