Flip
Crowned UK Children's Entertainer of the Year at Kidology 2024. Many
congratulations to Flip on being awarded "UK Children's Entertainer of
the Year" at the Kidology Convention last week. Flip, whose high energy
performances seamlessly blend magic, comedy, and interactive
storytelling, have become a popular favourite among children and
families alike. His unique approach, which encourages active
participation and focuses on creating memorable experiences for
children, earned him the top accolade at this year's convention.
Flip, who recently also became a member of
The Magic Circle, has been a keen magician since the age of five, after
seeing a children' entertainer perform whilst on a family holiday in
North Wales. Having now provided children's entertainment for almost
three decades, Flip's shows have captivated audiences not just in the
UK, but internationally. "This is an incredible honour," said Flip,
"I've always believed in the power of entertainment to spark joy and
imagination in children, and to be recognised in this way by my peers is
truly humbling."

The
No.1 Seller From MLM. When Pure Cards Across was first released a
few years ago, it quickly became one of Mark Leveridge Magic's best
sellers. The Cards Across is a classic plot of magic, of course, but
most versions require sleight of hand and/or convoluted handling. Pure
Cards Across, which is designed for use in a close up or parlour show,
removes all technical difficulties and presents a plot that is crystal
clear to the audience and where the performer can present everything at
fingertips! Andy Nyman bought one and posted on his socials a delightful
'impromptu' performance of the routine which showed just how clear the
routine is. If you missed that, you can watch Mark Leveridge's dem at
www.markleveridge.co.uk and from where you can also buy your copy
for just £10.00.

Jamie Daws
Step into the Bizarre Lecture - The
Darlington Magic Circle, 3rd October.
Nick Richmond writes: With over 19 years creating, lecturing and producing magic, Jamie is
well known for his clever, quirky and often slightly darker effects. In
his brand new lecture, he will take you on a captivating journey into
the world of bizarre magic. In "Step into the
Bizarre" Jamie delves into the dark and mysterious side of magic,
exploring the art of the strange and the supernatural.
Briefly touching on some of his influences in the bizarre and a few
strange and spooky realisations about himself from a younger age, the
lecture helps to highlight the importance of bizarre magic in a modern
setting and the skill set it offers to us as performers even beyond
magic. Storytelling, tonality, pacing and structure being some of the
skills that bizarre performers utilise, as well as mixing fact with
fiction to blur the lines of real and make believe.
Then we delve into the tricks themselves which vary from impromptu
seance methods, living and dead tests, effects with photos and Polaroids
and closing with his prized PK Touches routine. He will even bring along
a full-sized spirit cabinet built for his 2023 stage play "All the Fun
of the Fear", discussing how it was made and the inner workings of the
apparatus.
For 8 years Jamie has been creating a bespoke lecture experience in
association with Alakazam Magic called "Tackling Terrifying Taboos"
which has now become a yearly celebration of the bizarre. With nearly 30
hours of bizarre content, Jamie's lecture style is fun, engaging and
often has a spooky edge.
Step into the bizarre with Jamie Daws and transform the way you think
about your magic forever.
Thursday the 3rd of October 2024. Doors open 7.30pm.
The DSRM (Rolling Mills) Club, Longfield Road, Darlington DL3 0HX.
