Jay
Scot Berry Lecture. Jay Scott Berry lectured at The Order of The
Magi (Manchester) on 10th May, as part of his 2011 UK lecture tour. His
evening entitled The Delicate Sound of Wonder featured some items
he performed on the gala show at the recent Northern Magic Circle
convention in Scarborough. Included in these were a number of
entertaining silk routines. His floating candle flame on banknote was
sensational as was his destiny routine using two packs of cards. It is
not just Jay’s magic that is so cleverly produced but also the
philosophy that goes with it. If he has not visited your society on this
tour do try to secure a booking before he leaves our shores as it is a
lecture I feel confident you will enjoy. The picture (courtesy Peter
Moran) shows current Magi president Mike Sharples passing on heartfelt
thanks on behalf of the members who turned out in good numbers for the
occasion. Geoffrey Newton PRO. [Jay Scott Berry lectures for the Medway
Magical Society on May 17th and South Downs Magicians, West Sussex, on

Six
Masterpieces by Wayne Dobson. "The six jaw-droopingly good routines
that you will be able to perform with props that you either already
have, will be able to buy or can make at very little cost. My personal
favourite is Once upon a Time - a routine which truly has a fairy
tale ending! Wayne has cleverly built the prop for this item into the
book itself.... genius! Settle down now, fasten your safety belts and
enjoy the company of; Best Friends, Amnesia, Only Joking, Every Time,
Perspiration and The Once upon a Time. Stephen Tucker, April

Magicians needed for school magic shows. Eugene Matthias emails:
"Since 1999 Eugene Matthias has been using magic as a medium to deliver
key messages and motivate in an educational environment. He was
commissioned by a local authority to produce a series of educational
magic shows, which has grown to eight educational shows, after school
clubs and fund raising shows. Eugene delivers over 300 shows a year (two
per day) in primary schools, upper schools and universities around the
UK. Over the last two years demand has increased to such an extent that
we now need to find magicians who would like to earn an additional
income working Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 3.00pm in education.
Historically this has proved a great way for getting children’s party
booking as children will have seen you perform in their school and
schools are happy to put up your marketing material. For more
information please contact Eugene Matthias at
